Once again, ViaDirect and JCDecaux have collaborated to equip Los Angeles Airport (LAX) in the USA. A total of 29 kiosks have been installed in the most strategic areas of the airport to improve passenger traffic.

LAX is the third largest airport in the world, with over 88 million people using it, including over 600 daily flights and more than 1,000 international flights to 32 different countries.

It is located on the beach in the community of Westchester, close to downtown L.A., resulting in significant tourist traffic due to its advantageous location.

To meet its high flight demand, the airport consists of 10 connected passenger terminals. The passage from one terminal to another sometimes requires the use of a shuttle bus, due to their distance. To satisfy its customers, there are many entertainment facilities in the terminal halls.

In order to find your way around this large complex, digital orientation terminals have been installed.

Each kiosk displays the interactive 3D wayfinding software ViaDirect for location and access to all terminals, gates, shops and services with the help of a 3D map representing the 10 terminals of the airport.

3D wayfinding and information software kiosk of LAX Airport includes…

  • Real time display of all departure and arrival flights, including occasional delays
  • Passenger option of tapping flight number on screen or scanning its boarding pass will give access to full information and directions needed
  • Indications and orientation with the multi-level 3D map
  • Air companies’ check-in booths
  • Directories of restaurants, shops, airport amenities, services and parking lots
  • Listing of taxis, public transports and car rentals
  • Clear distinction between the areas before and after the security check-in line
