Since 2019, ViaDirect, in collaboration with JCDecaux, successfully completed a large-scale digital wayfinding project at Orlando International Airport (MCO)—the 11th busiest airport in the United States, serving over 50 million passengers annually.
As part of this project, 20 digital wayfinding kiosks were installed at strategic locations throughout the airport. These interactive kiosks were designed to enhance passenger flow and improve access to essential services within one of the country’s most active transportation hubs.

Smart Navigation with 3D Wayfinding Kiosks
To support better orientation, each kiosk was equipped with ViaDirect’s interactive 3D wayfinding software, offering travelers intuitive guidance to:
All boarding gates and terminal
Shops, restaurants, and airport services
Airline check-in counters
Ground transportation options including taxis, buses, and rental cars
Parking areas
A nearby hotel directory, including the ability to make instant voice reservations via VoIP technology
Moreover, the kiosks featured a multi-level 3D map that clearly represented all four terminals. This layout included a distinct separation between pre-security and post-security zones, enabling travelers to plan their routes with precision and confidence.

Real-Time Services for a Better Travel Experience
In addition to navigation, the kiosks provided a robust set of advanced digital services, such as:
- Live flight information with real-time updates on arrivals, departures, and delays
- Flight search by typing the flight number or scanning a boarding pass
- Step-by-step navigation instructions
- SMS functionality to send directions directly to a mobile phone
- A bilingual interface in English and Spanish, ensuring accessibility for international travelers
These features contributed to reducing passenger stress, enhancing satisfaction, and modernizing the airport experience.
