Since opening in April 2014, Qwartz shopping mall has remained a key ViaDirect reference. Located in Villeneuve-la-Garenne, France, the mall was developed by Altarea. It covers 86,000 m² and features more than 185 shops and restaurants. These include a Carrefour hypermarket, Primark and Marks & Spencer. At launch, Qwartz became the first French shopping mall to deploy digital services on such a large scale.

A long-standing partnership

Altarea selected ViaDirect to equip Qwartz with multitouch kiosks. These combined visitor information, wayfinding and loyalty services. ViaDirect managed the entire project, from kiosk design and production to hardware integration, software and maintenance.

The original Trombone kiosks were custom-designed for the mall. Each unit combined a wayfinding screen with a loyalty screen. The kiosks also featured NFC and barcode readers.

More than a decade later, the partnership continues to grow. Altarea has rented the kiosk hardware since 2021. The latest renewal extends the contract for another four years, or 48 months. It also guarantees maintenance throughout the contract period.

What is new with the renewal

The renewal goes beyond extending the existing contract. It also brings a major upgrade to the visitor experience.

  • New kiosk fleet: six Gazelle 43″ units, five freestanding kiosks and one integrated into the reception desk, with new hardware and furniture adapted to the mall.
  • Redesigned interface: a new UI inspired by the one deployed at Beaugrenelle, aligned with the mall’s current graphic identity and validated through mockups before deployment.
  • ViaDirect mapping: the kiosks now run on ViaDirect’s own mapping, bringing a consistent experience across all of the mall’s digital touchpoints.
  • ViaDirect Web: the same interactive map can be embedded in the mall’s website via iframe, so visitors can prepare their trip before they arrive.

Why it matters

For shopping centers, wayfinding does more than help visitors find stores. It encourages exploration, promotes offers and makes visits smoother. A clear, intuitive map also helps visitors discover more of the mall.

By renewing this partnership, Altarea continues to invest in a solution that evolves with Qwartz. ViaDirect brings its latest technologies to a long-standing client. Together, they are modernizing the visitor experience while maintaining service continuity.
