CPH teamed up with ViaDirect to implement a system that makes navigation effortless for travelers.

For its second project in Denmark after FIELD’S shopping center in 2017, ViaDirect equipped Copenhagen Airport (CPH – Københavns Lufthavn) with an innovative digital signage and wayfinding solution. Given that over 30 million passengers pass through CPH annually, the airport recognized the need for high-quality, user-friendly navigation tools to guide travelers smoothly, both arriving and departing.

2 models of ViaDirect Kiosks

To address this demand, CPH strategically placed 10 interactive wayfinding kiosks throughout the airport, ensuring that travelers can easily navigate the busy terminals. CPH chose ViaDirect’s popular Gazelle model for its sleek design and functional features. The 43” touchscreen Gazelle pairs with an information totem featuring a backlit “i” symbol, all in the airport’s signature deep blue and yellow colors. For areas with limited space, the more compact Lémurien kiosk performs equally well without compromising on design.

Key Features of ViaDirect’s Wayfinding Solution:

  • Real-time Flight Information: Passengers can scan their ticket to instantly access real-time flight updates and be guided to their departure gate.
  • Shopping and Dining: Travelers can explore a wide range of shopping, duty-free, and dining options available within the airport.
  • Interactive 3D Maps: Navigate seamlessly through the airport’s three terminals with an interactive 3D map, ensuring no confusion.
  • Distance and Walking Time Indications: Plan ahead with clear instructions on the walking distances and estimated times to reach specific locations.
  • Multilingual Support: All information is displayed with translations in Danish, Chinese, and English, making it accessible for international travelers.

Strategically located kiosks

One standout feature of ViaDirect’s wayfinding software is its ability to provide context-sensitive information tailored to the kiosks’ location. For instance, a kiosk in the “Arrival” zone offers useful details about public transport options for leaving the terminal, while a kiosk in the “Departure” zone lets passengers scan their boarding pass and get direct guidance to their gate, saving valuable time.

ViaDirect’s cutting-edge solution has significantly improved the overall passenger experience at Copenhagen Airport. The new system reduces stress, streamlines navigation, and enhances the flow of people throughout the terminals, while also providing valuable services to ensure a more enjoyable airport visit.
